Meeting point and boarding point can differ
An operator may ask you to meet at a desk, office or landmark before taking you to the boat. Going directly to the nearest pontoon can mean missing the check-in. Open the full confirmation, find the meeting pin and read the written instructions as well as the map.
San Marco is an area, not one pier
Several boat services use landings around the San Marco waterfront. Gondolas, tour boats and scheduled services do not all leave from the same place. Match the operator and the booked product to the reporting location. A nearby boat with a similar name is not evidence that it accepts your ticket.
Airport and station arrivals
At Marco Polo, allow for the transfer from the terminal to the water-transport area. At Santa Lucia, distinguish a staff meeting point from a public ACTV landing. If your train arrives at Mestre, you are not yet at Santa Lucia. Save the details before travel and keep the operator contact available.
Build in time for the last walk
Venice walking routes can involve bridges, narrow lanes and crowds. Use a realistic route with luggage or children and follow the reporting time on the confirmation. If the location is unclear, contact the provider before the departure day; do not rely on a generic address copied from another tour.
