Who else is on the boat?
With a shared ride, you buy passenger places and may travel with others. A private option reserves the gondola for your group within its stated capacity. If the surprise, proposal or family occasion depends on privacy, make that requirement explicit in the option you select. The same photograph can be used for more than one arrangement.
Seats and photography
The gondolier allocates seats for balance and safe operation. A private booking does not give passengers the right to choose any position or stand for a photograph. Check whether photography is included or an optional upgrade; do not infer it from promotional images. Keep a compact bag and leave bulky luggage elsewhere.
Music is a separate choice
A serenade option adds a musical element, but performers may be in a central boat within a group. Confirm the exact arrangement if having a singer on your own gondola matters. A standard gondola booking should not be treated as a live-music experience unless that is included.
Compare the full experience length
Some listings combine a short ride with a guided walk, a gallery visit or digital commentary. Compare the time on the water separately from the total activity length. Check the departure location and route description, while allowing for weather and canal conditions to change the final route.
